solar panels for logistics: UK commercial installation specialists

We are a UK commercial solar contractor that has chosen to specialise in one of the hardest and most rewarding parts of the market, the logistics roof. Warehouses, distribution centres, fulfilment hubs, cold stores, and last-mile depots are not like other commercial buildings. They have the largest roofs in the country, the most demanding fire and insurer requirements, and lease structures that catch out installers who only know how to sell to owner-occupiers. We have built the team, the design discipline, and the funding relationships specifically for these buildings.

Why logistics, specifically

UK warehouses hold more than 600 million square feet of roof, the largest underused renewable resource in the country, and almost all of it sits over a daytime electricity load that is close to a perfect match for rooftop solar. Material handling charging, refrigeration, conveyor automation, and high-bay lighting all draw power when the sun is up. That makes the self-consumption economics on a logistics building better than on almost any other commercial property type. Cold chain in particular, with its round-the-clock refrigeration, delivers the fastest payback in UK commercial solar. We focus here because the engineering is genuinely specialist and the returns for operators who get it right are substantial.

How we work

We are independent of any panel or inverter manufacturer, so the kit we specify is the kit that suits your roof and your load, not whatever we are contracted to shift. Every proposal is built from your half-hourly meter data and modelled in PVSyst, not estimated from a roof area and a rule of thumb. We design to the standards that matter on a logistics building from the outset, LPC sprinkler clearances of 1m to the deflector and 0.6m at high-bay, wind loading to BS EN 1991-1-4, and F-gas compliant detailing on refrigerated roofs. Insurer pre-design review is built into every project as standard, because a large-roof PV install that the insurer has not signed off is a liability, not an asset.

Accreditations you can verify

We hold every certification a UK commercial solar installer should hold, and each can be checked against the issuing body. We are MCS-certified for commercial work, NICEIC Approved Contractors, RECC members, and TrustMark licensed. We carry ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 for quality, environment, and health and safety, and where a project involves fire detection integration we work to BAFE SP203. We are members of Solar Energy UK. Our workmanship is covered by a 10-year Insurance-Backed Warranty through IWA, so the guarantee stands even in the unlikely event the installer does not, which matters on an asset you expect to run for 25 years.

What makes us different from a generic installer

The commercial solar market filled up fast, and a lot of firms that learned on domestic rooftops moved into warehouses without learning the differences. The result is installs that ignore sprinkler clearances, designs the insurer rejects after fabrication, and quotes that quietly leave out the re-roof an asbestos cement roof needs. We have seen the consequences, and so has the insurance market, which has hardened against large-roof PV partly because of bad work. We do the unglamorous things properly, we engage your insurer before we fabricate, we provide the green-lease addendum your landlord needs, and we tell you honestly when a roof is not worth it. We would rather walk away from a project that will not deliver than damage the track record we have built.

If you want a straight assessment of whether your warehouse suits solar, with the numbers backed by your own meter data, that is exactly what our free feasibility study gives you. We will tell you what we would install, what it would generate, what it would save, and what it would cost, and we will be honest if the answer is that you should wait.
